The Gramophone is the Canadian distributor of Rath trombones.
For over twenty years, the name of Michael Rath has been synonymous with craftsmanship of the highest possible standards. With instruments currently being exported across the world, from Alaska to Australia, and played in a vast diversity of ensembles, trombones carrying the distinctive “R” symbol have proven themselves to be without equal.
All Rath trombones, with the exception of the Hagmann valves, are manufactured by hand in their workshop
Rath bells are constructed in two pieces, and are available in yellow, gold, and red brass, copper and nickel silver. One recent innovation has been to make their instruments convertible, allowing players the flexibility to choose the right bell for the right situation and repertoire. Bells can be made in light or heavy weights, according to specific requirements.
The slides are made from tubing drawn to tolerances of 0.001”. Perfectly aligned, producing arguably the fastest slide available in the current market, Rath slides are available in yellow brass, gold brass or nickel silver.
Rath trombones feature the Hagmann valve, manufactured in Switzerland. They are usually found on larger bore tenor and bass trombones, but they can be fitted to all Rath instruments. For more information about Hagmann valves, please visit their website.
The key of the valve attachments listed in the specifications can be modified to individual requirements.
Rath trombones are finished in clear epoxy lacquer.

The Rath R9DST is our dependant bass trombone with tuning in the slide. Tuning in the slide allows for a completely conical bell section which on the R9DST has been designed with the interchangable bell flare fitting which is common to all of our bass trombones.
